M & B
Kilmartin Castle, Scotland
Set in the breathtaking surroundings of Kilmartin Castle, this intimate West Scotland wedding was the perfect blend of understated luxury and laid-back elegance. Beautifully led by Mandie of Thistle and Pine Photography, it was one of those days that felt effortlessly special from beginning to end—and one I couldn’t help but share a few of my own moments from.
Hidden away in Argyll and Bute, Kilmartin Castle is one of those rare places that feels both exclusive and completely relaxed at the same time. Perfect for micro weddings, it offers a beautiful sense of privacy, with endless opportunities to get creative and have a bit of fun along the way.
Step just beyond the castle grounds and you’re surrounded by some of Scotland’s most incredible scenery—ideal for those natural, romantic portraits. It really does feel like your own little corner of the world, where everything slows down and the focus is simply on celebrating, soaking it all in, and enjoying every moment.

The set up
I loved every minute spent wandering through Kilmartin Castle, capturing the quieter, in-between moments and all the beautifully considered details. Nothing felt accidental—every element had been thoughtfully chosen, giving the whole day a sense of effortless cohesion and style.

The Couple
One of the things I love most about Kilmartin Castle is its beautifully intimate scale—it makes moving between both sides of the morning preparations feel completely seamless, allowing those moments to unfold naturally without interruption.
There’s a quiet, unmistakably Scottish charm to the space, with thoughtful details like the flag taking pride of place in the living area, adding to its sense of identity and story. The interiors are rich and atmospheric—deep tones, low light, and full of character—which create the most beautifully moody, cinematic setting to photograph.

The Portraits
Quirky, stylish, and full of personality, these two were an absolute joy to photograph. Having travelled over from the US with a small group of their closest people, M & B created a celebration that felt both intimate and effortlessly cool.
We spent time wandering through the surrounding Scottish countryside, taking it all in and capturing a series of beautifully relaxed, romantic portraits along the way—those unhurried moments that feel as special as the day itself.

There’s something truly special about this place; it strikes that rare balance between character and ease. Full of charm, quietly distinctive, and incredibly well considered, it’s a venue that invites both creativity and comfort in equal measure. If you’re searching for a stunning Scottish setting for an intimate wedding, this really is one of those hidden gems that feels like it was made just for it.
