FAQ's

To set expectations, here is some additional information for you. Please have a read through these before we chat. A lot of time, effort and money goes into planning a wedding to make it the best possible experience. I'd like to help make my part of your wedding go as smooth and straightforward as possible from the moment you land on my wedding page, right up until I've delivered your photos (and any other add-ons).

After you've wound down from all the highs of your celebration, your wedding photos will be one of the most important parts from your wedding to remember it by. It is SO important to choose the right photographer for you, and part of that process is ensuring you're both on the same page with expectations about the day. How you connect with each other is also key. Please have a read through the information below to help you start to make a decision about whether I may be the right person for you.

WILL YOU SHARE ANY FULL GALLERIES?

Yes, of course! I will share a couple of full galleries so you have a good idea of what you will be receiving after the wedding.

ARE YOU A FULL TIME PHOTOGRAPHER?

Yes! I have been fully self employed as a professional wedding photographer since 2018. Before that, I worked as a teacher and photographed weddings on the weekends. I also photograph maternity & families. You can see my other work here. I still run an occasional service trip abroad for teenagers during my low season, because I love combining working with students and travel. So if you see me in Asia, i'm probably on a trip!

DO YOU TRAVEL FOR WEDDINGS?

Yes, yes and YES! I love travelling for weddings both within the UK and abroad. I also have EU citizenship so travel to Europe is very straightforward. If you are planning a destination wedding, get in touch and we can chat more to discuss!

I DON'T LIKE MY PHOTOGRAPH BEING TAKEN, WHAT WILL IT BE LIKE ON THE WEDDING DAY?

Many people feel this way! I'll help you through it all and make you feel comfortable throughout the day. We may also have a pre-wedding session as well and this helps you feel comfortable with the process. Most of the time, you won't even notice that I am there. I don't like to get in the way of your wedding, I'm there to capture it as it is. I promise (and previous clients will tell you!), you will have fabulous photographs of you and your guests on your wedding day and I will guide you through the more "awkward" portrait session.

HOW DO WE RECEIVE OUR PHOTOS?

I will send you an online gallery with all the full resolution images from your wedding. You can download these files from your gallery either as full size, high resolution images or as smaller social media sized files. You can share your whole gallery with your guests, or I can create a separate private gallery for you to share with friends and family.

HOW LONG DO I HAVE TO WAIT FOR MY IMAGES?

I always deliver a small selection of images within 24 hours of your wedding. The rest are delivered within 4 weeks of your wedding in a private, password protected gallery.

WILL YOU SHARE THE UNEDITED IMAGES?

Not in my standard packages, but the RAW files are available to purchase at a flat fee of £500. As part of your package, I share the professionally edited high resolution JPEG images.

WHAT KIND OF EDITING DO YOU DO?

This part's important! I'll make your photos look stunning by editing your photos true to life! I want your photos to be timeless and the edit feel natural in 50 years time. My film edit will be minimal. I believe in capturing the real you - apart from basic removals (e.g. a piece of food on your face or a temporary pimple which has come out on the day), I won't photoshop people's faces, move things around and invent what wasn't already there. If you'd like this kind of work doing, I'll put you in touch with a great editor who can make these things happen. What I will do is tidy up images (I will work with you on the day to minimise this in post!).

WHAT GEAR DO YOU USE?

I shoot with Canon 5D Mark IV and a variety of prime and zoom lenses. I have recently added a drone and 3 film cameras to my gear. A 35mm rangefinder, a point and shoot and a polaroid. I usually stick with the prime lenses but also use the zoom lenses depending on the venue, the light and type of shot I am trying to achieve. I always shoot on two cards (apart from the film cameras/drone), and have a back up camera in case one stops working (highly unlikely and has never happened but there is a small chance it could!). If the location allows, I will use the drone in special circumstances. My favourite lens is my 35mm!

DO YOU BACKUP MY PHOTOS?

YES! I always shoot with two cards so there is a backup in case one card fails (highly unlikely but this could happen). I always create a two versions of the files on a computer and hard drive at the end of the wedding day, so I always have at least two copies of your files. I always store the RAW image files and edited images for at least two years after your wedding. The gallery I share with you will always be online, but I do recommend you download your own copy one I have shared these with you.

WHAT HAPPENS IF YOU HAVE AN EMERGENCY AND CAN'T MAKE IT?

I always have a back up associate photographer who I I trust completely to cover the wedding day in my place. I would still edit the photographs so you the same quality and style of images. However, I am always the main photographer and intend to be on your wedding day. I do not associate out as part of my business model.

HAVE YOU BEEN TO MY VENUE BEFORE?

Not always, but I have years of experience under my belt so if I haven't been to your venue before, this is not a problem! I am an experienced photographer and always find the right place to be and great locations for the group and couple shots. If I can, I will do a recce of the venue and surrounding areas beforehand or get to the venue early to have a look before the wedding starts.

DO I NEED TO ORGANISE FOOD FOR YOU?

It's not a must, but I would really appreciate it! If you would like to provide a meal, many venues will have an option for suppliers, so please check in with them if you would like to provide me with a meal. Either way, please let me know in advance so I can plan. The best time for me to eat is when you are eating - I  prefer to not photograph you all with a mouth full of food, so if I finish my meal before yours, I'll then be ready to photograph you all as soon as you are finished with your meal!

WHAT STAGE OF THE DAY DO YOU EAT/TAKE A BREAK?

The best time for me to eat is when you are eating. I'll then be ready to photograph you all as soon as you are finished with your meal. If I eat after you have finished your meal, then I won't be ready to get back behind the camera in time. I will take short breaks throughout the day, when there is a lull in the day. I never say when this will be, as I don't want to miss any important parts of your day and plan my breaks around the flow of the day.

WHAT DOES THE PRICE INCLUDE?

Please take a look at this page for more details. Note that my breaks are included in the overall time. If you book me for short coverage of 5 hours, this will include short breaks during this period. I take breaks when I need them to ensure I am getting the best shots I can possibly throughout your day. Aside from the breaks, you will find I am on my feet for most of the rest of the day. And I love it!

WHAT IF MY WEDDING TIMINGS RUN LATE? WILL YOU LEAVE?

Absolutely not, I will stick around! I will always shoot the whole wedding for full coverage! The last thing you need to be thinking about is whether or not I am there to photograph your first dance because something has been delayed. It's a wedding and timings don't always go to plan. I will be there from when you start getting ready to after your first dance!

HOW DO I BOOK YOU?

Fantastic! I can't wait to be part of your wedding day! Just fill in this form and that will kickstart the process. We will then book a time to have a chat either in person or online. After we have agreed that I will be your wedding photographer, I will then send you a contract to have a look through, sign and return. 30% non-refundable retainer of the total amount is required to confirm me as your wedding photographer with the balance payable up to two weeks before the wedding.

WHAT IS YOUR CANCELLATION POLICY?

I understand that sometimes, life happens and you may have to cancel your booking with me. I only ever take on one wedding in a weekend/couple of days (apart from exceptional circumstances), so that I can give you 100%. This means that after you have booked me I turn away other enquiries for the day before/after your wedding. Here are a few details about cancelling your booking - you will receive detailed information about this in the contract! The percentages below are based on the total fee due.

60 days or less before the wedding - 100%
61-90 days before the wedding - 75%
91 - 180 days before the wedding - 50%

Cancellations must be in writing to info@asiliphotography.com.
